Los Angeles inspires me in so many ways. The skyline is one of the best views in the Country. As a L.A. native, there are so many things from my child hood that are imprints.

The smell of the beach, the sunset, Mexican Food, distressed denim, comfortable Tshirts, the music, street art, the gangsta mentality, marijuana and Palm Trees are the things that remind me of Los Angeles. Marina del Rey on Friday night, Melrose on Saturday, Venice Beach on Sunday, the skating rink and of course Crenshaw Blvd. I didn't grow up on the "Westside". But I was raised in the affluent neighborhood of Baldwin Hills before BET made a television show. Late night Theo on 92.3 FM...

These feelings of endearment for LA overwhelm my heart as I look at the pictures I took as the sun rose on 1/1/2012, the 1st sunrise of the New Year. I'm so prepared for the success, hard work, surprises, growth & laughter that will come this year. Looking at the skyline just heightens my excitement. I had to share with you all!

People always wonder where I get my laid back Cali style, now you know...Y'all flew here, I grew here.

I used to wake up to this view everyday! I can appreciate it much more now that its not apart of my daily routine.

HAPPY 2012!!

2011 was absolutely AMAZING for Sugar Scout Couture. We evolved from just a blog to a full on jewelry collection. We made our world debut on Vh1's Basketball Wives Miami Season 3. And of course, I was personally introduced to the world on the reunion show! smh In addition, our collection was worn by celebrities such as Kaleena of Dirty Money and Bad Girl's Club's Natalie Nunn.

One of the hugest successes of 2011, was  our runway debut at Jen Awad's show during Concept LA Fashion Week. I had not done a runway show since CAU's fashion show in 2000. To hit the LA fashion scene with so much approval was a complete honor!

We also closed our first retail account with L3 Boutique in the heart of Pasadena. This boutique is hot & trendy boasting brands like BLAQUE LABEL & HELLZ. L3 Boutique is located at 36 W. Colorado Blvd #6 Pasadena, CA 91105. You can also shop online at www.L3Boutique.bigcartel.com.

Something Old, Something New is a women's boutique that caters to the urban, edgy client that can appreciate vintage clothing but also is on top of current trends. The boutique is nestled in a nice neighborhood in South Los Angeles. The mix of the urban neighborhood and the industrial lot creates an unique shopping experience.

The boutique carries leather dresses, an assortment of sequins pieces, distressed denim & statement jewelry. You may also luck up and find a few designer vintage pieces, such as, the denim Fendi Skirt ($25). The price point in the store ranges from $10-$200.
